William Thad Wood Bill
William Thad Wood Bill, 78, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2011.
He was born September 15, 1933 in Waynesboro, GA to the late Charles P. and Bertha Ellison Wood. Bill was a member of Chapel By The Sea Baptist Church on Tybee Island. He served his country for twenty-eight years in the United States Army. He served in the Korean War and in the Vietnam War twice, during which he was awarded two Bronze Stars. Bill served as a Mason in the Blue Lodge in Columbia, SC, and was a Shriner in the Alee Temple in Savannah.
He leaves behind his adoring wife of fifty-two years, Mary H. Wood, sons William Wood and his wife Marie, Kenneth Wood, and David Wood. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Bell Jenkins, and Peggy Oliver.
Also his five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and many loving in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 16, 2011 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.
Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Chapel By The Sea Baptist Church on Tybee Island, with the The Rev. Dr. David Laughner officiating.
Burial will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 19, 2011 at Glennville Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Glennville, GA, with military honors.
